What about a pot luck reception?

We are trying to save money on our, "what was suppose to be small wedding and reception". I have come up with the idea of letting our closest friends and family bring something to eat for the reception. We are going to have about 120 guests so I don't want to ask that anyone bring a dish to feed 100 people, just everyone bring some type of finger food for people to munch on during party time. I will also be providing some food myself, I just don't think we can swing it all. I know its my wedding but when it involves asking others to do things for you it gets a little iffy on whether or not its proper.
