How do you make a reel mower less squeaky?

Ok, so I bought a reel mower to be a little more eco-friendly but it squeaks SOOOO bad. I have to spray it down with WD-40 4 times to do the front and back yard. I feel like I am defeating the purpose of being eco-friendly when i have to use so much WD-40. Any suggestions on how I can solve this problem? I don't mind using a lubricant but I would rather one that performs better and won't kill my gr.
